Welcome to room for a non-profit initiative to unite people to empower sustainable
change in the form of monthly, social get-togethers.
With room for we want to create places of encounter, both online and physical, to bring in as many different perspectives as possible and create an open community that encourages ongoing dialogue and learning from each other. We organise monthly get-togethers, which can also be listened to afterwards as a podcast. We ask: "What can I do?" This social format is inspired by the meetings known as "sobremesa" in Spanish, where sitting and being together creates conversation and exchange. For this purpose, we invite two speakers who deal with various interdisciplinary aspects of sustainability and share their impulse for "What can I do?"
Join us at the Slow Fashion Aperitivo this friday, 26.08 at 20h in Hamburg Speicherstadt!
This time we are collaborating with three amazing women: Maya from @awaredress, Jenne from @ohohom_ethicalsportswear and Melanie from @madame_frizzante powered by @neuundfrei_kreativstudio
There will be a clothes swap, a charity auction, live music, a small room for sobremesa and delicious snacks and drinks.

„WHAT CAN I DO?“ A COLLECTION OF CALLS TO ACTION
„IST DIE WELT NOCH ZU RETTEN?“
“We will get nowhere if we bury our heads in the sand and feel that we are powerless to do anything. Trust that each and every one of us can do something about it.”
“When it comes to marketing, a lot of things in this green bubble have an eco look. I understand that it fits, but I realise that we reach more people if we make it a bit more colourful and bright.”

„Manchmal ist es schwieriger, eine gute Frage zu stellen, als die richtige Antwort zu geben. Alina Boehm und Theresa Deeg haben mit
@roomfor einen Raum für Nachhaltigkeits Empowerment geschaffen, der ermutigt, Fragen zu stellen. Denn die beiden Designer:innen sind überzeugt, dass Gestaltung nicht nur das ist, was wir sehen, sondern auch was wir hören, reflektieren und worüber wir uns austauschen. (...)“
ARE THE GET-TOGHETHERS FREE?
Yes. Nevertheless can support us with a small donation to be able to continue organizing them.
WHO ARE THESE GATHERINGS FOR?
These social events are for everyone who seek to get to know and share ideas and learnings around the topic of sustainability. Please feel welcome to join anytime.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE GET-TOGETHERS?
For each get-together, we invite two guests who deal with different aspects of sustainability and share their point of views and experiences with us. A reference for the format is the gatherings known in Spain as "sobremesa", where time is spent in conversation, while feeling relaxed to
exchange perspectives and enjoying some drinks and/or snacks that fit the story. The idea is to leave the space open and allow everyone to have a seat and be part of the discourse without forcing it.
WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?
As designers, we are always amazed by the variety of inspiring ideas we come across in the field of sustainable development. But we see a crucial problem in the emergence of these hopeful solutions. They are communicated in a rather exclusive niche and usually don't reach
the majority. Instead of making people feel uncomfortable or judged when asking „What can I do?“, we believe that it is very important to enable the dialogue.
